Victory is Mine!

I have completed my first sock!! It is so warm, so cunning! It fits to a T. I am delighted with it!

Ok, so the kitchener stitch was a bit of a bitch. It really isn't hard, but I managed to split yarn and fail to pull it snug till I got to the end, and then I couldn't get it to tighten up, so I had to laboriously undo it and try a second time. But I prevailed. It will never fool an expert, but I think it is reasonably smooth and will hold up.

Oh and did I mention that yesterday, Amy explained to me that I had gotten my decreases running the wrong way? (No way to fix that now--I hope it will make more sense on the next go-round.) AND! I figured out for myself that I don't need two circs--I switched to using just one, and it is far easier. I am now convinced that Cat Bordhi is a fraud. Her book is worthless.

So on to sock number two! Pictures some day.

Good for you for finishing your 1st pair of socks. I knit my 1st pair two years ago & never wore them ... too tight in cuff & big feet, hehe. Rather than going back to fix, they're just a memento now hanging on my wall. I've knit over 2 dozen since then and it took the 3rd pair to get my size just right. [on 2 circs, honestly] It gets easier really and I also use dpns when it's a cuff down sock. I just love my socks now!

BTW, I haven't forgotten your request for the knitted heart pattern. I simply misplaced the pattern I used. Someone else has hers & will give me a copy Thursday. If she remembers, I'll send it by email, if you send me your email address. Just write to me at rhondarc AT gmail DOT com. Okay? Happy knitting!

Actually this is a more limited victory--I have only finished ONE sock, not one PAIR of socks. But the second sock WILL be knit!

Congratulations, Evelyn. I like how you put on your sock and admire it when you get bored! That's something to look forward to.
On to sock #2.
Still on scarves, Nancy
